Seven Army Cadet Ambassadors kicked off the Cadet150 celebrations in style when they attended an audience with Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace in February.
Prince Harry gave 60 cadets a day to remember when he paid a surprise visit to their training session in the Brecon Beacons at the end of last month. A former cadet himself, Prince Harry is patron of the expedition to Lesotho, organised as part of Cadet150.
The Scottish Parliament recognised the work of the Cadet Forces in a special debate on 24 March. MSPs of all parties supported a parliamentary motion congratulating the cadet movement and recognising the support it offers young people.
Surrey ACF has won a magnificent new trophy in a competition to raise the most amount of money for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. The Surrey cadets raised £13,500 to come first in the challenge.
Four Army Cadets have won a place in the next round of the CVQO (Cadet Vocational Qualifications Organisation) Duke of Westminster Award. The lucky four will be heading off to South Africa to join an expedition that will take place in July this year.
Cadets will soon be issued with a new training vest which has been specifically designed for use during field and range training. Vests are now being rolled out and should reach all cadets by the end of summer.
